Installation Overview The
various systems run on the Local PC connecting via ODBC to the remote
database. The ODBC will depend on the database server used and will be either
Informix Standard Engine or MS SQL Server. The
Mercury system uses a Desktop client (GDC) to render the windows and
communicate with the programs running on the server. For
Linux users the initial connection is via SSH and then the GDC communicates
with the server side process on port 6400. For
Windows users the GDC communicates with the GAS (Genero
application server) running under IIS. The
PC will require ODBC data source names (DSN) to connect the applications to the appropriate
database. The
